For his 11th cataloged release at Psoma Psi Phi, David Burraston offers the NYZ album DTRM. First in a series of in-depth studies of the classic diode transformer ring modulator. Recordings detail a number of circuits all built by hand at Noyzelab by Dave Burraston. Circuit construction used a combination of soldering of diode rings and crocodile clipping up various transformer configurations. The DTRM is likely the cheapest and simplest of all synth DIY circuits, and the configuration spaces of component possibilities is vast.
Sonically, DTRM is a mass of drones, shuddering in and out of focus, a smooth stone wall covered in sand and strange colors of moss that don't seem terrestrial. The more you observe it, the more intensely it vibrates, surrounding you, resisting definition but demanding observation. Similar in tonal personality to the PPLZ SYNF recordings, but warmer and denser.
