Murmur To The Night arrives as Psoma 38, bearing a nearly 3 hour digital component and a more modest 70 minute CD-R edition. Being one of my first sessions to come from building a modular synthesizer system, this recording was significant for being the first time my yet-to-be-named R-EW Audioholistics system would be able to convey more subtle and restrained audio, rather than the usual "severe" and angular material it was capable of in the very beginning. Murmur feels influenced by a number of classic synthesizer recordings, from Radigue's Adnos to Eno's Neroli, with notable nods to Teibel's Tintinnabulation as well, while being wholly apart from all of these things. It feels dimly lit and cautious, perhaps filled with the sense that the ground could drop out from beneath you at any moment in the undefined darkness. It also feels sloth-like and languorous, content to remain close to motionless for extended periods. Recorded during the Springtime of 2020, when the pandemic was just beginning to get a death-grip, Murmur kept me company during many restless nights, when I needed something to distract me from the outside world, and focus again on a quiet and dark room.
