WINDBLOWN ECLOGUES is a classically inspired piece of digital ambient music created using a video game - specifically the ByteBeat digital audio workstation implemented in No Man's Sky, a procedurally generated space exploration game developed by Hello Games.

Taking influence from Synergy's Computer Experiments album from 1980 and the two excellent Jochem Paap records issued at FAX in 1999, ECLOGUES illustrates a vibrant and surreal soundworld that, for the production of the session, was played back in realtime within No Man's Sky itself. Subtle elemental sounds come and go throughout the piece, which are the sounds of the planetary environment where the ByteBeat machines were placed to generate the sound - a paradise planet with red grass and green seas named Thansmonten, found in the Anspol system, where a cozy workshop base made out of dark wood and glass sits atop a peak, accessible only by ship.

ECLOGUES has been designed with these images in mind, and is intended as listening material for the purposes of reading (vintage science-fiction paperbacks, especially), stargazing and finally (hopefully) lucid dreaming. It is a paean to many different inspirations, from Wendy Carlos to Ray Bradbury, Arthur C. Clarke to Chris Foss, Alvin Lucier to Boris Vallejo, Sagan, Bocklin, Sage, Dolan and many others that informed trajectories of the mind, and the philosophies of space, and vice-versa.
